The Kaplan Yorke system

The system

A system which I include mainly for documentation purposes : its audio synthesis related use is quite limited.

Two variables, discrete. Here are the equations :

Y(n+1) = frac(2Y(n))
X(n) = a*X(n)+cos(4Pi*Y(n))

Audio files

The variable "a" is the main parameter.
It evolves from 0.05 to 1.1, 40 values, step of 0.05.

original output
1 octave down
2 octaves down
1 octave up
2 octaves up

The main timbre is always similar. The density of high harmonics gets higher as "a" gets higher.
I include the same files, transposed, in order to get a better idea of :
- the "micro structure" (1 and 2 octaves down)
- the general evolution (1 and 2 octaves up).

* A look at the waveforms :

Close zoom : notice the totally irregular behaviour.

From further : notice the "pseudo periodicity".
