AGEING & CONTEXTUALIZATION OF A PIANO PART

in Soundwalk: Paris: Palais-Royal (2005)

Project including spoken vocals, ambiences, and music. The music is mainly piano music (Scriabine's Preludes).

** ORIGINAL ISSUES

1. to age the piano (Palais-Royal is an old place with a certain amount of charm, très désuet)
2. to 'contextualize' the piano, so that when the listener walks by, it sounds like if it was played in the Palais-Royal itself

** SOLUTIONS

Here is one of the techniques, widely used throughout the whole piece :

(Not so) surprisingly, the timbre that was got from the cheap mike positioned behind the piano lid was a very good basis to produce nice variations.
